Uh….I think the company provides merchandise to a market that will pay that money. Supply and Demand.
If people continue to feel that their children will love them more if they get them their sought after toys, they will never be happy. They are not happy so they try to make their kid happy, which, in turn, will make them happy because they are doing what society tells them to do.
Bottom line: American psyche based in the need for commercialism. You demand, they sell.
